With a digital inspection table, a hot-foil printing machine, and a new folding carton gluing machine, the company now boasts a production process with a high degree of networking and efficiency.
Since its establishment in 1959, Colorman Ireland has grown into a key player in the Irish packaging industry. The partnership with Bobst began nine years ago and has since evolved into a strategic collaboration that goes far beyond the supply of machinery. The implementation of the Expertfold 80 line, the first of its kind in Europe, marks a significant step towards automation. This line is equipped with technologies such as Easyfeeder and Accucheck, which allow for near-complete automation of the production process while simultaneously improving quality assurance.
Technological innovations
Accucheck technology plays a central role in quality assurance. It monitors every production step, automatically identifying and removing faulty products. This allows Colorman to consistently implement its zero-defect philosophy.
Another highlight is the use of the Digital Inspection Table (DIT), which allows for digital projection onto physical sheets. This enables operators to conduct immediate visual comparisons with approved samples, thereby improving the accuracy and efficiency of quality control.
Data-driven decisions
The integration of Bobst Connect provides Colorman with real-time data on machine performance, which is accessible both on-site and remotely. This data feeds directly into the continuous improvement programmes that Colorman implements on the production floor. John Keating highlights that the swift feedback from Bobst's technical team is a crucial factor in the success of the partnership.
