The Durst Group is taking over the Dutch printing press manufacturer MPS Printing. As of 1 January 2027, MPS is set to become part of the Durst Group through the acquisition of its holding company and will operate in future as „MPS – A Durst Group Company“. The transaction is still subject to the usual closing conditions and regulatory approvals.

With the acquisition, Durst is expanding its range for label production and flexible packaging printing. While Durst primarily offers digital printing, software and automation solutions, MPS brings its flexographic printing technology and corresponding application know-how into the group. In future, the companies intend to combine digital and flexographic printing processes more closely with software, automation and finishing.

MPS will be retained as a brand

MPS is to continue developing, producing and marketing its existing portfolio of flexographic printing systems. The management will also remain in place. Michiel Borst will continue to lead the company and will report within the Durst Group in future as Managing Director of MPS – A Durst Group Company.

By belonging to the Durst Group, MPS gains access to a broader technology platform and a global organisation.

MPS’s existing direct sales channels in Europe are to be retained. In the USA, Durst US will take over sales and service for the MPS portfolio. Existing contracts and service obligations are to continue unchanged.

Partnership with Omet remains in place

According to Durst, the takeover will have no impact on the existing cooperation with Omet. Both companies jointly develop and market the KJet and XJet hybrid platforms, which combine flexographic and digital printing as well as finishing.

„Our partnership with Omet remains strategically important and will be continued,“ says Christoph Gamper, CEO and co-owner of the Durst Group. The integration of MPS is intended to open up additional technology options for various applications and market segments for Durst.

With the acquisition, Durst aims to build an overall broader platform for digital, hybrid and flexographic label and packaging production.
