Packaging machine manufacturer Groninger achieved a record result in the 2025 financial year. With a total output of 325 million euros, the family-owned company surpassed the previous year's result and demonstrated stability in a changing market environment. Demand for new machines and a strong service business contributed significantly to this success.
At the same time, over the past year it has become increasingly clear that the framework conditions in the market are changing: investment decisions are being made more cautiously, projects are subject to more intense competition and decision-making processes are taking longer overall, according to the company.
Groninger is focusing on international expansion and made significant investments in 2025. In the USA, a new headquarters was built in Charlotte for over 14 million US dollars to strengthen proximity to North American customers. This investment is part of the local-for-local strategy, which aims to promote customer proximity in key markets. At the headquarters in Crailsheim, the construction of a new assembly hall also marked the start of the largest investment project in the company's history. Over 30 million euros are being channelled into this expansion, which creates additional production capacities and responds to the rising demand for large pharmaceutical lines.
„The pharma lines we are building at the Crailsheim site are getting bigger and bigger – some of them include production lines that are metres long and high. This is also because turn-key projects, where we act as general contractor and take responsibility for planning, construction, installation and validation, are playing an increasingly important role.“

Strategic acquisitions and market development
A further step in the corporate strategy was the acquisition of Reinraumtechnik Ulm. This integration expands groninger's portfolio and positions the company as a systems supplier. Customers expressed the desire for such an addition, and groninger responded to this with the acquisition. The integration is taking place gradually and is to be carried out structurally, process-wise and culturally.
Further development and change will therefore continue to accompany the corporate group in the coming years. The market is already shifting noticeably today. „Customised special-purpose machinery remains indispensable – specifically wherever new technologies are to be created and innovations are called for. At the same regard, many applications demand modular, standardised and scalable solutions that can be realised more quickly while simultaneously meeting the highest quality and regulatory requirements,“ says Jens Groninger.
