Packaging printers face the challenge of increasing their productivity while simultaneously reducing costs. With the new ChromaStar ink dispensing system, Heidelberg now offers a comprehensive portfolio for the intelligent production of spot colours directly in the print shop. The solution enables just-in-time production, which not only reduces inventory and waste but also lowers printers' CO₂ emissions.
The concept supports the safe and efficient processing of conventional, UV and low-migration Saphira inks for food and non-food applications, ensuring efficient and resource-friendly ink supply through precise dosing technology, short mixing times and high process reliability. Overall, print shops benefit from increased productivity, reproducible colour results and automation that is optimally tailored to their requirements. The ChromaStar series comprises the X, S, M and P models.
Ready for customer demonstrations
The ChromaStar S, a compact, intelligent dispensing solution, was first presented in June at Packaging Day in the „Home of Print“ at the Wiesloch-Walldorf site and has been available for customer demonstrations ever since. It is designed for an annual spot colour volume of one to ten tonnes.
Digital workflow as the key to process security
The ChromaStar series integrates seamlessly into your workflow. The combination of Saphira Colours, Saphira Cloud, Saphira Check and Saphira Control ensures continuous transparency, traceability and consistent colour results.
The solution seamlessly integrates formulation, dosing, and colour control into a single process. Furthermore, a separate proof output supports colour-accurate communication throughout the entire process chain. This ensures exact alignment between colour definition and production – a crucial factor for quality and repeatability.
Strategic expansion of the lifecycle business
Today, printing companies expect a complete portfolio of process and spot colours from a single source, which Heidelberg already offers. Saphira consumables are a key component of a high-performance and cost-effective printing process. As one of the largest suppliers of consumables in the printing industry, the company combines a comprehensive portfolio with a global sales and service network, as well as local application expertise.
