The Hera Group is further expanding its activities in plastic recycling. Through its Polish subsidiary Aliplast Polska, the company is taking over 70 percent of Kronos Polymer Polska. With the acquisition, the corporate group aims to further expand its recycling capacities and strengthen its position in the European market.

The acquisition will be made through a newly established company, which will be formed by the spin-off of Kronos Polymer's business. The company operates a polyethylene (PE) recycling and processing site in Gniew, Poland, which only became operational in 2023. The plant features a complete sorting, grinding, and washing line for polyethylene, with an installed annual capacity of 12,000 tonnes.

Expansion of recycling capacities

According to the Hera Group, the acquisition is part of a long-term strategy to expand its recycling activities. Together with other ongoing projects, the subsidiary Aliplast is set to increase its total capacity to over 210,000 tonnes of high-quality plastic recyclates per year, according to reports from Bologna. This would double the previous capacity, according to the company.

The facility in Poland is also intended to enable Aliplast to recycle and process plastic waste more directly on-site in the future. The company expects this to lead to more efficient material flows and optimised logistics.

Partnership to strengthen expertise

According to the company, the participation opens up new development opportunities for Kronos Polymer. The company highlights the chance to further expand its industrial experience and technical know-how in collaboration with Aliplast and the Hera Group.
