The Digital Product Passport (DPP) and the increasingly demanded traceability of goods are bringing new challenges for manufacturers and pushing static marking systems to their limits. At Fakuma 2026, REA Elektronik and Dr. Boy will demonstrate how modern marking solutions for injection-moulded parts can meet these requirements. The focus will be on solutions that enable individual and permanent marking.
The introduction of the Digital Product Passport (DPP) and the growing need for product traceability demand innovative marking technologies. At the trade fair in Friedrichshafen, REA Elektronik and Dr. Boy are presenting two joint projects that address precisely these requirements. One highlight is the so-called ‚Electric Barista‘, which combines injection moulding technology with marking expertise while bringing coffee culture to the trade fair.
The Electric Barista as a trade fair highlight
The Electric Barista impressively demonstrates the integration of injection moulding technology and laser marking. Exhibition visitors can place their espresso order at a terminal and enter their name. The BOY 50 Electric injection moulding machine then produces a cup made of food-grade NAS30, which is coloured with a laser-sensitive combi-masterbatch. A fibre laser from REA Laser ensures precise marking with the name of the person placing the order. This individual labelling takes place without any interruption to production and can be flexibly adapted to different requirements.

Further applications and benefits
Alongside the Electric Barista, REA Elektronik is showcasing further marking solutions for various materials such as thermoplastics, thermosets and elastomers at its stand. These include the REA Laser ExtruMark 200, a mobile solution for the inline marking of extruded plastic parts. These technologies make it possible to apply product information alphanumerically or as a code, which is particularly important for the Digital Product Passport.
Collaboration as a success factor
The cooperation between REA Elektronik and Dr. Boy has intensified in recent years, as Dr. Patrick Messer from Dr. Boy emphasises. The short communication channels and close collaboration enable quick and efficient project implementation. Dr. Boy's injection moulding machines are not only compact and energy-efficient, but also known for their precision. These characteristics make them the ideal basis for the applications shown.
Visitors to Fakuma 2026 can see the innovative solutions for themselves from 12 to 16 October. REA Elektronik can be found in Hall A7, stand A7-7106, while Dr. Boy will be exhibiting in Hall A7, stand A7-7101.
