MULTIVAC is presenting solutions for the packaging of medical products at this year's Compamed. The focus is on an application for the efficient packaging of cardiac catheters, an interactive line for complex medical products and sensitive combination products, and a handling module for end-of-line applications that can be integrated into existing lines. Under the segment brand MULTIVAC Health Packaging, the company is bundling its expertise in the field of medical and pharmaceutical packaging solutions.
A highlight of Multivac's presentation was the R 245 thermoforming packaging machine. This machine is specially designed for packaging cardiac catheters and meets the requirements of the PPWR through the use of recyclable flexible films. The machine features a UDI-compliant direct printing system from Bell-Mark as well as integrated seal seam and print image inspection. Multivac Clean Design guarantees improved process transparency and safety. Verena Vetter, Corporate Product Manager Health Packaging at Multivac, emphasises the importance of tailoring packaging solutions to the respective product and regulatory requirements.
Automation in end-of-line packaging
For the automation of end-of-line processes, Multivac is presenting the H 300 Cobot handling module. This cobot can be seamlessly integrated into existing lines and offers a cost-efficient solution for palletising. With its connection to Multivac Line Control and the ability to carry out cross-line batch handling, the H 300 represents a flexible solution that makes no compromises in terms of either safety or efficiency.
Interactive lines for complex products
Multivac also showcased an interactive line that illustrates the packaging of complex medical devices and sensitive combination products. This line demonstrates the broad spectrum of solutions in the field of health packaging, including the digitally controllable pixelSEAL contour sealing system. This system enables precise temperature control, which is required for processing highly complex packaging materials.
Sustainable packaging processes with EvoCoating
Another innovative approach from Multivac is the PFAS-free EvoCoating for heating and sealing plates in thermoforming packaging machines. This solution helps companies meet current and future regulatory requirements by reducing energy consumption through lower sealing temperatures. The coating is characterised by high resistance to abrasion and wear, significantly extending the service life of the machine components.
