The shipment of temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical products presents companies with special challenges. With the introduction of a jute insulation packaging, Ecocool now offers an environmentally friendly solution for pharmaceutical shipments. This packaging enables the transport of medicines in a temperature range of two to 25 degrees Celsius. Ecocool has already won a first customer from the pharmaceutical industry..
The JuteBox from Ecocool consists of a shipping carton with an insulating layer made of recycled jute fibers. This insulating layer is held stable by reinforced support fibers and is wrapped with a PLA film. The packaging has been designed to meet the specific requirements of pharmaceutical shipping, in particular ensuring compliance with the cold chain over a period of up to 72 hours. In combination with PCM cooling elements, the JuteBox can maintain the critical temperature range of two to eight degrees Celsius for 48 hours.
Adaptability and environmental characteristics
Ecocool offers its customers the opportunity to customize their packaging solutions. This includes both the size of the packaging and the temperature range and cooling agent configuration. The jute insulation is characterized by excellent thermal conductivity and moisture control. These properties enable comparable insulation properties as those of similarly thick EPS boxes. Additionally, the jute fleece offers shock-absorbing properties that provide additional mechanical protection during transportation.
Focus on sustainability
The packaging solution from Ecocool is not only functional but also sustainable. The casing of the insulation insert is made of cotton fleece, and the outer carton is made of FSC-certified corrugated cardboard. Both materials contribute to the environmental friendliness of the packaging. The insulation insert is biodegradable in industrial compost, and the shipping carton can be recycled.
