Indicators from KAGER indicate that temperature limits have been exceeded
The trade and advisory company KAGER offers a large range of self-adhesive measuring strips for thermal limit monitoring. Specifically designed for use in supply chains focusing on the transport of refrigerated and heat-sensitive semi-finished or finished products are the WarmMark® colour-change indicators.
Chemicals, medicines, remedies and foodstuffs are among the typical goods that are often transported in refrigerated supply chains. To ensure that no inferior or spoiled goods find their way to the processor or even the end customer because certain low-temperature limits were not maintained, the cold chain must be monitored. In many cases, this is done by applying measuring strips that are firmly attached to the products or packaging. Perfectly matched to this are the self-adhesive WarmMark® temperature indicators in the portfolio of the German trading and consulting company KAGER. They have an irreversible single or multi-field display and are available for 20 different threshold scenarios.

Irreversible proof
The simplest version of the WarmMark® indicator has a single-part display that can be used to prove an eight-, twelve- or 48-hour exceedance of the 8°C, 25°C or 26°C limit. By contrast, the three-field design features indicators that can monitor nine different limit values from -18°C to +37°C across three time periods each. For example, the WarmMark® strip for the 10°C limit triggers three times: the first time after two hours, again after 12 hours, and finally once more after 48 hours. In the worst-case scenario, all three display points of the WarmMark® indicator then turn irreversibly red. This enables a quality officer or goods inspector to read the duration of the temperature limit exceedance and assess whether or not it is still tolerable in the specific case.
Simple and cost-effective
In addition to the single-field and three-field variants, there is a two-field variant as well as a mini version and a long-term version, with which a cold chain can be monitored for up to 168 hours and which triggers at up to five different times. Such a long-term device is, for example, a good solution for goods with transit times lasting several days.
Unlike the installation of accompanying measuring devices or interference-prone wireless systems, the use of these self-adhesive indicators is a simple, reliable and cost-effective method of temperature monitoring for cold chains. When used systematically, the WarmMark® not only serves continuous quality assurance, but can also provide indications that the product packaging should be improved or the transport method reviewed.
