The optimised pallet change saves the company over €35,000 annually and demonstrates how targeted process improvements can increase profitability.
The introduction of the Paratus Change Cargo Combi at Eriks has reduced the time taken per pallet change by an impressive 94 percent. Prior to implementation, employees often had to manually repack goods, which was not only time-consuming but also physically demanding. With the new mechanical solution, personnel requirements have been significantly reduced, directly impacting labour costs.
No need to re-wrap
Another advantage of the new solution is the significant reduction in pallet and packaging costs. By using disposable pallets for shipping, the more expensive Euro pallets remain in-house, which reduces pallet costs by 40 percent. Furthermore, the need to re-wrap pallets is completely eliminated, saving 100 percent of stretch film. These measures contribute considerably to cost-efficiency and support the company's sustainability goals.
Fast and straightforward implementation
The system implementation went smoothly. Only a few weeks passed from commissioning to installation. The technical integration into the existing processes was almost seamless, and staff training took just 15 minutes. The limited drilling depth in the hall floor also presented no obstacle, thanks to the system's shallow anchoring depth.
Economic success and future plans
The economic benefits of the new solution quickly became apparent. The investment had already paid for itself after just six months. Henning Wallerius, Team Leader Administrative Logistics at Eriks Germany, emphasises the positive impact on employees and the increase in warehouse efficiency. Given the successful implementation, the company is considering introducing the system at further locations.
