Rising demands for flexibility and quality in the packaging industry are driving companies to continuously optimise their production processes. Peku Folien, a medium-sized company based in Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate, has therefore invested in a modern slitter rewinder from the Spanish manufacturer Comexi. This investment aims to further improve the processing of high-quality printed packaging films.
The new slitter-rewinder is characterised by its high cutting precision and short setup times. It enables Peku Folien to process a wide variety of film variants efficiently. Michael Pirner, Head of Sales at Peku Folien, emphasises that the company's customers, who come from the food, pet food, hygiene, and industrial and consumer goods sectors, will benefit from this investment. The system not only improves the winding quality of the reels, but also makes it possible to map the entire finishing process at the Neumarkt site.
Sustainability through innovative technology
The new technology not only offers efficiency benefits, but also supports the company's sustainability strategy. Patrick Hofmann, Plant Manager at Peku Folien, emphasises that the laser-assisted positioning of the knives ensures precise roll geometry and consistently high processing quality. The automatic unloading of the finished rolls reduces non-productive time and increases productivity. Modern automation and control systems ensure reproducible results and enable cost-effective production even for small and medium-sized batches.
Ergonomics and energy efficiency
Another aspect of the new facility is the ergonomic design of the workstations, which significantly reduces the physical strain on employees. The energy-efficient drive technology and optimised production processes help to minimise material waste and make the use of energy and raw materials efficient. These measures not only support the company's sustainability goals, but also contribute to economical and responsible packaging production.
Growth and future-proofing
The commissioning of the new slitter rewinder is part of an ongoing investment programme by Peku Folien. As early as 2023, the company invested in the construction of a cleanroom and in technologies for the medical technology sector. With the new Comexi line, the company is strengthening its Neumarkt site and creating the basis for even more efficient, sustainable and high-quality packaging solutions.
