The demand for transparent and sustainable packaging solutions is steadily growing in the packaging industry. In this context, Coveris has recently received the RecyClass Recycled Plastics Traceability Certification for three additional production sites in France and Great Britain. This certification confirms the responsible sourcing and accurate traceability of recycled plastics in the production process.
The newly certified sites are located in Firminy and Montfaucon in France, and Louth, UK. These plants supply packaging solutions for a variety of applications, including food and beverage, pet food, household and personal care products, and transit packaging. With these certifications, Coveris strengthens its position in high-performance packaging with recycled content and supports compliance with new regulations such as the UK Plastic Packaging Tax and the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation.
Meaning of RecyClass Certification
The RecyClass certification provides independent verification that recycled plastics are not only responsibly sourced but also accurately tracked throughout the production process and integrated into end products in verified quantities. This transparency is crucial for gaining consumer trust and achieving the sustainability goals of the packaging industry.
Support for the No Waste Strategy
Nikolaus Wolfram, Chief Operating Officer of Coveris, and Sarah Willis, Quality Improvement Manager, are emphasising the importance of these certifications for the further development of the company's No Waste sustainability strategy. This strategy aims to minimise waste and maximise the efficiency of resource use. The RecyClass certifications are an important step towards a fully circular economy, in which all packaging materials are used responsibly and efficiently.
