Welsh start-up DeltaH Innovations is now presenting its patent-pending self-cooling beverage can, the „Cool>Can“, for the first time as part of a commercial partnership. For this, the young company has teamed up with Welsh partner brewery Brains Brewery to launch „Bayside Welsh Lager“ in the fully recyclable can.

The Cool>Can uses a chemical reaction, activated by the push of a button, to rapidly chill drinks by 10–15°C. This innovation, the result of two years of development work, triggers a chemical reaction at the push of a button. Only water and a patented salt-based coolant are used, without compromising the recyclability of the can.

A piece of Welsh packaging history

The collaboration between Welsh inventor James Vyse, founder and CEO of DeltaH Innovations, and one of Wales' most renowned breweries is not only a glimpse into the future of beverage packaging, but also a tribute to Welsh pioneering work in packaging history. As early as 1935, the Felinfoel Brewery in Llanelli produced Britain's first canned beer.

At London Packaging Week, visitors will have the opportunity to experience the Cool>Can first-hand. James Vyse: „Up to now, we have been sending out and discussing prototypes, but now we are presenting the first commercial Cool>Can in partnership with a brand.“ He said this was a major step from technical development to launch on the mainstream market.
