The Federal Economic Senate has appointed Dr Gerhard Huber, Group CEO of Somic, as an honorary economic senator. The award recognises his entrepreneurial achievements, as well as his many years of dedication to business and society.

With this appointment, the Federal Economic Senate acknowledges Dr. Huber's outstanding entrepreneurial achievements and his services to the German Mittelstand. The award was presented by Christoph Ahlhaus, Chairman of the Federal Executive Board of the German Association for Small and Medium-sized Businesses (BVMW), and Hans-Josef Döllgen, Director of the Federal Economic Senate.

The Federal Economic Senate is a cross-party body of the BVMW that brings together around 400 leading business figures who together generate an annual turnover of approximately 120 billion euros and are responsible for roughly 1.2 million jobs. This exclusive group sees itself as a link between business, politics, science and society, and promotes dialogue between these areas.
