Syntegon has opened a new customer centre for solid oral dosage forms at its Fellbach site. The focus is on development and production processes for tablets and capsules – including the filling and sealing of capsules. The company invested a double-digit million amount in the new location.
The OSD Customer Center was established on an area of 7,900 square metres following its relocation from Waiblingen. It comprises cleanrooms, a powder laboratory and facilities for trials with oral solid dosage forms (OSD). Pharmaceutical and nutraceutical manufacturers can use it to test new formulations and production processes under real-world conditions.
Focus on capsule filling and sealing
For the trials, capsule fillers and sealers, as well as tablet presses, are available in Fellbach, among other equipment. This enables manufacturers to test important processing steps for medicines and food supplements before the products go into series production.
According to Syntegon, the spatial proximity in particular between the customer centre and production is intended to facilitate the transfer of knowledge. As a result, development and manufacturing processes could be transferred more quickly to subsequent production. The company also expects this to lead to shorter time-to-market periods for new medicines and dietary supplements.

Syntegon also points to efficiency gains from the move. In the very first months, delivery reliability had increased by ten percent through improved cross-departmental collaboration, agile working methods, and higher efficiency.
OSD Academy also in Fellbach in future
The new centre is also to be used for training courses. The OSD Academy, previously held in Schopfheim among other places, will in future also take place in Fellbach. The first edition at the new location is planned for 2027.
