Provisur has introduced an automated press-to-pack solution for industrial food processing. The system combines form presses, cutting and product handling with various packaging machines. The central component is the Formax Free Movement System.
The production line is designed, among other things, to process bacon and other meat products. After the forming press, a press-to-slice module takes over the weighing, scanning, and positioning of the products. The captured data is transmitted to the subsequent Formax SX550 slicer. This model features two independent product drives, enabling two-directional processing.
Flexible product handling before packaging
The Formax Free Movement System (FMS) plays a central role in the transition to packaging. Instead of conventional conveyor belts or rollers, electromagnetic-powered transport units are used. The so-called Mover can move products independently of each other and feed them through different process steps. This allows, for example, several slicers to feed a packaging machine or a slicer to supply several packaging lines. According to Provisur, motion profiles can be adapted via the control system for different production scenarios.
This is intended to make the system more flexible, especially when changing portion sizes, smaller batches, and multi-product packs. The transport units are available in various sizes and can rotate, stop, or flexibly route products.
Can be integrated with various packaging machines
According to the manufacturer, the press-to-pack solution can be combined with different packaging machines. These include thermoformers, horizontal tube bag machines and tray sealers. All components are interconnected via a common control architecture. The continuous data exchange is intended to enable a coordinated production flow from the forming press to packaging.
