Valmet is delivering a complete board machine with automation and lifecycle solutions to Sun Paper in China. With this investment, the paper manufacturer aims to expand its capacity for containerboard and make production more energy- and resource-efficient. Commissioning is planned for autumn 2027.
The order comprises a complete board machine from the headbox to the reel slitters, as well as extensive automation and service solutions for Sun Paper's mill in Nanning. Kraftliner and testliner are to be produced. According to Valmet, modern technologies and digital solutions will enable reliable operation at high production capacity while simultaneously reducing energy and resource consumption.
Focus on energy efficiency and automation
The scope of delivery includes, among other things, the so-called sleeve roll technology for more efficient dewatering in the former and a compact dryer geometry. Both technologies are intended to reduce energy consumption while ensuring high product quality and stable machine performance. Two slitter-rewinders are also intended to ensure high production capacities and consistent roll quality.

We expect these solutions to enable high performance, reduce energy consumption, and meet our capacity targets. Lifecycle services accompany operation
In addition to the delivery of the machine, the order includes spare parts, digital services and felts for the paper machine. Furthermore, the customer's existing facilities will be modernised. According to Valmet, the automation package is intended to increase production efficiency, improve machine safety and support the transition to a higher level of automation.

The order was booked in the second quarter of 2026. Valmet did not disclose any information on the order value.
