The aim of the cooperation is to develop and globally market fibre-based closures for beverage cartons in order to reduce plastic content and further improve the carbon footprint.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Norwegian packaging specialist Elopak has acquired a stake in the Swedish start-up Blue Ocean Closures. The young company develops <strong>Fibre-based alternatives to plastic closures<\/strong>, especially for beverage cartons. Elopak is already a leader in the gable-top carton segment and sees fibre-based closures as a technically promising way to reduce the environmental impact of packaging.<strong> Further reduce the proportion of plastic in packaging<\/strong> and increase the use of renewable raw materials.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thomas K\u00f6rmendi, CEO of Elopak<\/strong>, emphasises the importance of the cooperation: the fibre-based solutions are \u201ea promising technology\u201c that supports Elopak's vision of a low-carbon, resource-saving packaging sector.<\/p>\n<p>Also <strong>Lars Sandberg, CEO of Blue Ocean Closures<\/strong>, sees the partnership with Elopak as a milestone: the first high-volume applications for fibre-based closures are opening up, particularly in the gable top carton segment. Joining forces with Elopak will strengthen development activities and accelerate the market entry of new solutions.<\/p>\n<p>The combination of start-up innovation and Elopak's global market expertise will set new standards for sustainable packaging solutions in the future.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Joint development of sustainable closures<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>With this investment, Elopak is expanding its R&amp;D expertise and opening up a new field in the area of sustainable closure technologies.
