The investment will strengthen the regional supply chain for injectable medicines and create around 180 new jobs by the end of 2025.

Pharmaceutical packaging specialist Schott Pharma has officially opened a new production facility for glass ampoules in the Serbian city of Jagodina. Following the ground-breaking ceremony in December 2023, the plant has now started operations after an investment in the double-digit million range. Around 180 new jobs are to be created there by the end of 2025.

New capacities for the European pharmaceutical market

Glass ampoules for injectable medicines such as painkillers, anaesthetics and anti-inflammatories are produced at the site. The global demand for such packaging is high: more than 40 per cent of injectable medicines worldwide are filled in glass ampoules. The new plant will therefore be an important part of the European supply structure - particularly in terms of quality, availability and location independence.

Schott Pharma produces glass ampoules at ten sites worldwide and supplies packaging for billions of safe injections every year.
