At the IFCO Service Centre in Dannstadt-Schauernheim, Rhineland-Palatinate, 500,000 reusable packaging containers are cleaned, sorted and checked for reuse every day.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The IFCO Service Centre in Dannstadt-Schauerheim, which opened in April 2023, is part of a global network of 139 service centres that support the IFCO SmartCycle model. With over 400 million reusable packaging containers (RPCs) in circulation, the company enables around 300 retailers and 18,000 producers worldwide to the switch to sustainable, circular supply chains<\/strong> - and at the same time drives digital transformation and automation in the food industry.<\/p>\n

Strategically located at a central European transport hub, the service centre in Dannstadt is a key building block for the circular economy. In the modern facility, IFCO RPCs automatically sorted, checked, hygienically cleaned and recirculated.<\/strong><\/p>

Thanks to advanced automation and intelligent sorting and crate recognition systems,<\/strong> the service centre ensures efficient and resource-saving processing of various sizes and types of reusable systems. It is therefore a prime example of scalable solutions that measurably reduce waste, CO\u2082 emissions and water consumption along the entire supply chain.<\/p>\n

The facility is also a benchmark for resource-conserving infrastructure. The building is powered by a photovoltaic system and has underfloor heating and LED lighting. It has been awarded the Gold Certificate for Green Buildings by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). The four-stage cleaning process ensures Food-safe hygiene, cleanliness and safety<\/strong>, and the water used is reused up to 400 times.<\/p>\n
