S\u00fcdpack and Multivac will be presenting sustainable film solutions for the meat processing industry at IFFA 2025 - with a focus on recyclability, material efficiency and high machine compatibility.<\/strong><\/p>\n

At IFFA 2025, S\u00fcdpack and Multivac will be demonstrating how recyclable film materials can be processed on existing packaging machines without compromising on product protection and process reliability. Three specific applications for meat processing will be shown at the Multivac Group stand - each with monomaterial solutions based on PP, PE or PET.<\/p>\n

The collaboration between the two companies is aimed at optimising the use of sustainable packaging materials in machine technology. This is because monostructures are considered to be recycling-friendly, but are more challenging to process than conventional multilayer composites.<\/p>

Peel PET floatable for cured ham<\/h3>\n

One highlight on the stand is a slicing line for cured ham, which uses S\u00fcdpack's Peel PET floatable lidding film. The peelable film can be separated from the APET tray according to type, as it has a lower density. It therefore fulfils the criteria for better sortability in the recycling process. In addition to sustainability, the film impresses with its high oxygen barrier, anti-fog properties and strong sealing performance - even with a greasy product surface.<\/p>\n

Recyclable PP solution for fresh meat in trays<\/h3>\n

For minute steaks in mono-PP trays, a lightweight PP-based top film from S\u00fcdpack's Pure-Line with a thickness of just 60 \u00b5 is used. This not only enables a low packaging weight, but also the clear allocation to existing recycling streams - a plus in the ecological balance, as they say. The peel function also supports convenience for the end consumer.<\/p>\n

Material savings with \u201echopping in a bag\u201c<\/h3>\n

Another solution is the material-efficient flowpack packaging for minced meat. It will be presented on a high-performance line with the Flowpacker W 510, which also uses a PP film from the Pure-Line. With a material thickness of just 60 \u00b5, savings of up to 60 per cent can be achieved compared to conventional tray packaging - with comparable protection and machine efficiency.<\/p>\n
