The modular platform impresses with its high level of hygiene safety, low energy consumption and flexible integration.

Material flow specialist Interroll is presenting its new conveyor platform for the food industry at IFFA 2025 in Frankfurt. The centrepiece is the „Special Hygienic Conveyor“ (SHC), which is designed for transporting packaged food at temperatures from -5 to +40 degrees Celsius. The solution is based on the tried-and-tested Modular Conveyor Platform (MCP), but has been specially developed to meet the high requirements for hygiene, energy efficiency and safety in food processing.

Zero back pressure conveying and less energy consumption

A central feature of the SHC is the so-called Zero Pressure Accumulation (ZPA), i.e. zero pressure accumulation conveying. This is made possible by individually controlled conveyor zones with 24V or 48V drives. According to Interroll, this can save up to 90 per cent energy compared to conventional 400V systems, depending on the application. At the same time, the low-noise operation below 70 dB(A) ensures better working conditions.

The stainless steel construction of the SHC fulfils high hygiene standards: Rounded guides, a reduced hole pattern and the absence of undercuts make cleaning easier. Seals on the rollers prevent the ingress of water, which reduces cleaning times and water consumption. The SHC is certified to ISO 4 for cleanrooms and falls well below the particle limits.

(Photo: Interroll)

Plug-and-play system for new and existing systems

The conveyor platform has a modular design and can also be used as a plug-and-play solution for modernisations. A transition module allows it to be combined with existing systems, such as the Modular Conveyor Platform (MCP). It is controlled via the MultiControl unit from Interroll, which does not require an additional PLC and supports all common industry protocols.

Another digital tool is the Interroll Layouter, which system integrators can use to virtually plan and optimise complete systems - from simulation to commissioning.

Deployment with leading companies

According to Interroll, SHC technology is already being used by companies such as Nestlé, Danish Crown and system integrators such as Marel and Krones. The conveyor solutions are designed to help fulfil EU, FDA and EHEDG requirements for hygienic processing and save energy at the same time.

Interroll is presenting a new conveyor platform for the food industry at IFFA 2025.
