By expanding the rolling mill at its main plant in Constantia Teich, Constantia Flexibles is strengthening its aluminium foil production, reducing CO\u2082 emissions and securing supplies for the European packaging industry.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Constantia Flexibles, the world's third-largest manufacturer of flexible packaging, has officially opened the expansion of its rolling mill at the Constantia Teich parent plant in Weinburg, Lower Austria. The total investment of \u20ac80 million - \u20ac50 million of which was invested in the rolling mill expansion and \u20ac30 million in a new coating line - is aimed at increasing production capacity, strengthening European supply chains and decarbonising aluminium processing.<\/p>\n

30 percent more aluminium foil - up to 90,000 tonnes per year<\/h3>\n

With the commissioning of the new facilities, Constantia Teich will increase its production volume by around 30 percent to up to 90,000 tonnes of aluminium foil per year. This makes the site one of the largest integrated aluminium packaging manufacturers in Europe. The process optimisation is expected to save around 100,000 tonnes of CO\u2082 per year.<\/p>

Investment in modern technology and renewable energy<\/h3>\n

The new plant portfolio includes three pre-rolling strip ovens, a rolling stand, a cut-off machine, three double film ovens, an expanded high-bay warehouse and a new painting and laminating machine. Constantia Flexibles is relying on European mechanical engineering partners and a sustainable energy supply, including a large-scale photovoltaic system on the factory premises.<\/p>\n

Strategic focus on growth segments<\/h3>\n

The capacity expansion will support high-growth applications such as coffee capsules, pharmaceutical packaging and food packaging in particular. The first commercial production has already started.<\/p>\n
