The initiative is organised by the non-profit <strong>EcoBeautyScore Association, which developed the system together with over 70 companies and industry associations<\/strong>. Among the first brands to publish results are L'Or\u00e9al Paris, Neutrogena, Nivea Q10 and Eucerin.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Scientifically sound assessment in 16 environmental categories<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The system is based on the <strong>Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) methodology of the EU<\/strong> and assesses products over their entire life cycle - from raw material extraction to disposal. The system is thus responding to a growing <strong>Need for guidance on sustainability promises in the cosmetics sector<\/strong> - especially in view of the fact that around half of European consumers have so far been sceptical about such claims.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Focus on access for brands of all sizes and transparency<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>According to the EcoBeautyScore Association, the evaluation process is regularly independently audited and certified. <strong>Brands of all sizes can test the platform free of charge<\/strong> and receive onboarding support. At launch, the system comprises four product categories: Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and facial care products. A global expansion is planned.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201eEcoBeautyScore is the transparency tool that the beauty industry has been missing until now. For the first time, brands can communicate their environmental impact in a scientifically sound, consistent and understandable way.
