At the end of August, Progroup started regular operations at its new corrugated board format plant in the northern Italian town of Cessalto. With this ultra-modern site, the family-run company from Landau i. d. Pfalz is strengthening its position on the European market and continuing its growth trajectory.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The system is designed for maximum efficiency. With a working width of 3.35 metres and a speed of 400 metres per minute, it produces around 200,000 tonnes of Next Generation corrugated board formats every year. These are characterised by particularly low grammages and resource-saving production. The project was realised on time and on budget.<\/p>\n

Packaging park as a model for success<\/h3>\n

The PW16 plant follows the concept of the packaging park, in which the corrugated board formats are delivered directly to the packaging production of the neighbouring company Ondulkart. A fully automated high-bay warehouse with around 15,000 storage spaces and an intelligent intralogistics system replace conventional lorry deliveries. This speeds up material flows, cuts costs and reduces CO\u2082 emissions.<\/p>

Ondulkart Managing Director Antonio Pesce describes the location as a strategic milestone. The close integration with Progroup makes it possible to serve customers faster and more flexibly.<\/p>\n

Focus on sustainability<\/h3>\n

The reduction in transport journeys and the use of next-generation corrugated board formats underline the ecological focus of the project. According to Progroup CSO Vinzenz Heindl, the products offer maximum stability and quality despite using fewer resources, thus contributing to the transformation of the packaging industry.<\/p>\n

PW16 is Progroup's second Italian site after the plant in Drizzona. According to the company, this is a clear sign of sustainable growth and long-term partnerships in Europe's largest corrugated board market.<\/p>\n
