With Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025\/1720, the EU Commission has imposed definitive anti-dumping duties on certain aluminium foil in rolls originating in China. The decision is based on an expiry review pursuant to Article 11(2) of the basic Regulation (EU) 2016\/1036.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The measure concerns thin aluminium foil (film\/thin sheet) in rolls for import into the EU. It is intended to prevent continued dumping and the resulting damage to the European industry. For processors in the packaging industry - for example in the food, beverage and pharmaceutical segments - the supply situation remains a key issue: while the tariffs cushion Chinese low prices, they could also make individual procurement flows more expensive and increase demand for EU or third-country supplies. In terms of trade policy, the Commission categorises the measure as a protective instrument against dumping and links it to the relevant legal bases (Celex 32025R1720; reference to Basic Regulation 2016\/1036).<\/p>\n

Aluminium foil in rolls is essential for flexible packaging - from lidding and blister films to pouches and composite laminates. The continuation of the anti-dumping measure is aimed at ensuring fair competitive conditions, according to the statement. For converters, this means reviewing purchasing strategies and supplier portfolios, for example through greater diversification, longer-term call-offs or exploring alternative specifications within the EU standards landscape. At the same time, manufacturers in the EU could derive investment and planning security from the more stable price situation in order to further develop capacities and quality.<\/p>
