The planned levy on foil-wrapped Christmas stollen will not be imposed for the time being. Saxony's Economics Minister Dirk Panter (SPD) welcomes the swift reaction of Federal Environment Minister Carsten Schneider (SPD), who has announced that he will not issue any levy notices until any objections have been clarified.<\/strong><\/p>\n

After talks between the two ministers, Mr Panter thanked Mr Schneider for his \"unbureaucratic concessions\". The Classification of a 750-gram Christmas stollen as a single-use plastic or to-go product subject to duty<\/a> is impractical in his view and places an unnecessary burden on a traditional craft. \"To categorise a 750-gram Striezel as a to-go product is absurd in my eyes,\" said Panter.<\/p>\n

Review by the Federal Environment Agency<\/h3>\n

The Federal Environment Agency now wants to carefully examine the objections submitted and also compare them with regulations in other EU countries. Mr Panter announced that he would continue talks with the federal government in order to achieve a long-term, reliable and practical solution for Saxon bakers.<\/p>
