{"id":108158,"date":"2025-10-16T12:03:40","date_gmt":"2025-10-16T10:03:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/packaging-journal.de\/?p=108158"},"modified":"2025-10-16T12:03:40","modified_gmt":"2025-10-16T10:03:40","slug":"copenhagen-return-take-away-packaging","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/packaging-journal.de\/en\/kopenhagen-rueckgabe-take-away-verpackungen\/","title":{"rendered":"Copenhagen launches return system for take-away packaging"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Together with the City of Copenhagen, the Danish company New Loop is launching a return and reusable system for take-away packaging - equipped with durable packaging solutions from KeepIn, the reusable brand of the German Jokey Group from Wipperf\u00fcrth.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>By mid-October, 32 return stations had already been installed in the centre of Copenhagen - the start of a large-scale <strong>Pilot project that will run until at least the end of 2026.<\/strong> Citizens can simply return cups, bowls and trays there - and <strong>Digital, deposit-based with app<\/strong>. The system combines intelligent deposit management, digital technology and resource-efficient packaging.<\/p>\n<h2>Circular packaging design \u201eMade in Germany\u201c<\/h2>\n<p>The reusable packaging used comes from German production: KeepIn produces them at the Jokey plant in Sohland in Lusatia<strong> made from ISCC Plus-certified bio-based polypropylene (PP)<\/strong> based on renewable raw materials. The <strong>Certification is based on the mass balance approach,<\/strong> in which bio-based raw materials are allocated to the product on the balance sheet. The pilot project is also part of Denmark's national strategy to establish a nationwide, standardised reusable and deposit system. For KeepIn and Jokey, the focus is not on setting up their own return systems, but on developing long-lasting packaging solutions that are <strong>efficiently support existing and future systems and make them scalable<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Danish company New Loop develops digital return and deposit systems for reusable packaging. The system integrates return machines, logistics, cleaning and quality control with digital deposit processing.
