{"id":108760,"date":"2025-11-07T10:51:56","date_gmt":"2025-11-07T09:51:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/packaging-journal.de\/?p=108760"},"modified":"2025-11-06T15:56:09","modified_gmt":"2025-11-06T14:56:09","slug":"site-zero-traceability-certified","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/packaging-journal.de\/en\/site-zero-rueckverfolgbarkeit-zertifiziert\/","title":{"rendered":"Europe's first certified sorting plant for food-grade recycling"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"328\" data-end=\"501\"><strong data-start=\"328\" data-end=\"501\">Swedish Plastic Recycling is the first company in Europe to receive the new RecyClass certification for sorting plastic waste that can be recycled into food-grade recyclate.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"503\" data-end=\"952\">In a decisive step for the plastics recycling industry, Swedish Plastic Recycling (Svensk Plast\u00e5tervinning) has become the first company in Europe to offer a new recycling solution with its Site Zero plant. <strong>received the new Sorting Process Certification from RecyClass<\/strong>. The independent audit by the Ecogrant certification body confirms that the <span class=\"kY2IgmnCmOGjharHErah\">Plastic waste must be sorted in such a way that it can be demonstrably reused for food contact. This is a decisive milestone, especially for food contact applications.\u201c<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1363\" data-end=\"1682\"><strong data-start=\"1534\" data-end=\"1556\">Mattias Philipsson<\/strong>, CEO of Swedish Plastic Recycling<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2 data-start=\"1684\" data-end=\"1737\">Open-technology further development for PE and PP<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1739\" data-end=\"2057\">The plant is currently focussing on <strong data-start=\"1780\" data-end=\"1827\">PET bottles, PET trays and PS packaging<\/strong>, that can be recycled in food-grade quality. As part of the CRISP (Circular Recycling Innovation for Sustainable Packaging) research project, we are also investigating how future <strong data-start=\"1963\" data-end=\"1983\">Polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP)<\/strong> can be prepared in a food-safe manner.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2059\" data-end=\"2517\">Since 2018, Swedish Plastic Recycling has been a pioneer in transparency and process control.
