According to the company, the decision was made for economic reasons, in particular continuing pressure on margins and increasing volatility in demand. In future, aluminium cartridges will be produced at the Hungarian sister plant.

Tubex currently employs 81 people at the Wasungen site. The company's aim is to achieve socially responsible job cuts, which will be negotiated together with the relevant employee representatives as part of a social plan. A central element is the takeover of as many employees as possible by neighbouring companies or companies belonging to the group.

Social plan with a focus on employment prospects

According to Tubex, the neighbouring Prefa GmbH and other Tubex sister companies in Baden-Württemberg in particular will offer alternative employment opportunities. Prefa belongs to the same entrepreneurial family and has signalled its willingness to give preferential consideration to applications from employees from Wasungen. The Rangendingen and Ludwigsburg sites will also offer preferential interviews. The aim is to make an equivalent job offer to as many of the 81 employees as possible.

Economic pressure and increasing demands

Tubex justifies the relocation of production with ongoing cost pressure and price targets within the supply chain. At the same time, according to the company, the requirements for quality, environmental compatibility and regulatory conformity of the products are increasing. These framework conditions can be better managed in larger production units, in particular by utilising synergies within the group.

Focus on aluminium packaging and the circular economy

Tubex sees itself as a pioneer in sustainable aluminium packaging. According to the company, the packaging it produces is 100 per cent recyclable. One focus is on the reuse of aluminium scrap and post-consumer recycling. Together with sister companies and external partners, Tubex is planning further investments in research, development and innovation in order to further expand a closed-loop circular economy.

Group structure as the basis for competitiveness

According to the company, thinking and working in larger entrepreneurial units is a prerequisite for being able to fulfil price, quality and environmental requirements in the long term. Greater utilisation of Group-wide synergies, including in cross-divisional functions, is intended to ensure innovative strength and strengthen the Tubex Group's competitiveness in the long term, according to the statement.

Source: Tubex

Tubex schließt den Standort Wasungen aus wirtschaftlichen Gründen.
