Smart and sustainable packaging solutions will be the focus of intralogistics at LogiMAT 2026 from 24 to 26 March in Stuttgart. According to the organiser Euroexpo Messe- und Kongress-GmbH, international manufacturers will be presenting new materials, automated systems and digital labelling solutions that are designed to increase efficiency, recyclability and reusable concepts.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to the organiser, the packaging industry is under considerable pressure to adapt. Declining production values, stricter regulatory requirements under the European Packaging Ordinance (PPWR) and increasing demands for sustainability and digitalisation are changing market structures and investment decisions. Intelligent packaging with sensor technology and RFID, paper-based alternatives to plastic and automated on-demand packaging systems are seen as key drivers of development.<\/p>\n

Focus on automation and material efficiency<\/h2>\n

Several exhibitors will be showcasing solutions that automate packaging processes to a greater extent and save material at the same time. These include paper-based shipping packaging for e-commerce, customised cardboard packaging and systems for providing filling material as required. The aim is to reduce transport volumes and better adapt packaging to different product sizes.<\/p>

Paper-based air cushions, banding solutions and PPWR-compliant automatic packing machines will also be presented. In addition, fibre casting solutions made from recycled waste paper are becoming increasingly important, for example for pallets or cushioning systems that are positioned as an alternative to foamed materials.<\/p>\n

Reusable, labelling and circular economy<\/h2>\n

Another focus is on the digital labelling of reusable load carriers. RFID labels, in-mould technologies and low-battery e-paper solutions are designed to enable unique identification in closed logistics cycles. Suppliers are thus responding to the expected growth in reusable pallets, containers and packaging.<\/p>\n

At the same time, companies will be showcasing packaging materials from recyclable material cycles, including stretch films with post-consumer recyclate or shipping packaging made from fully recyclable kraft paper. Concepts for returning films and cardboard packaging to the economic cycle round off the range.<\/p>\n

Exhibition Director Michael Ruchty explains: \u201eThese examples show viable ways in which smart packaging solutions can fulfil the requirements for sustainability and efficiency in intralogistics in a future-proof manner.\u201c<\/p>\n
