In contrast to conventional bioplastic materials, this new compound completely omits polylactic acid (PLA).<\/p>\r\n<p>According to Gaia BioMaterials, the patented materials are already in use in various applications such as carrier bags, fruit and vegetable bags, bin bags, and medical gowns. Konrad Ros\u00e9n, R&amp;D Director at GAIA, explained that the company's new research and development platform as well as its patent strategy have been successful.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The introduction of these PLA-free materials could have an impact on the packaging industry, particularly in relation to promoting compostability.
