The requirements of the Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023\/1230 (MR) present new challenges for companies. From 20 January 2027, these will be mandatory, requiring the systematic identification and reduction of safety risks. Safety components such as small controllers, which directly contribute to accident prevention, are also affected. With its configurable safe small controller PNOZmulti 2, Pilz offers a solution that is now officially MR-compliant.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The conformity of PNOZmulti 2 with the MVO has been confirmed by an EU type-examination certificate issued by the independent testing body T\u00dcV S\u00dcD. This certificate, in accordance with Article 25 of the regulation, attests that the controller meets the essential health and safety requirements. This allows machine manufacturers and distributors to reduce coordination efforts and increase planning certainty. Furthermore, the CE marking of machines is accelerated, which facilitates market entry.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

PNOZmulti 2 Safety Functions<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The PNOZmulti 2 takes over central safety-related functions that contribute to accident prevention. This includes monitoring of emergency stop buttons, safety gate switches, as well as the safe shutdown of safety valves or contactors. These functions are crucial for early detection of critical machine states and for reducing hazards for machine operators. Thus, the small controller makes a significant contribution to plant safety in accordance with the Machinery Directive.<\/p>

Integration into comprehensive security concepts<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

For a comprehensive safety concept, the PNOZmulti 2 configurable safety relay can be combined with further safe automation technology from Pilz, for example, with PSEN safety sensors and PIT command and signalling devices. This allows machine manufacturers to benefit from a coordinated solution comprising control, sensor technology and operation as a holistically safe machine concept from a single source. This minimises interface costs and simplifies project planning.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
