IFCO, known for its reusable packaging solutions, has now launched a new Tracking-as-a-Service solution called TRLLN. This solution, with its infrastructure-free, scalable platform, helps companies keep track of large, fast-moving asset networks.

TRLLN's (pronounced „Trillion“) platform answers four central questions about traceability across industries: Where is the product? Is it in perfect condition? Has it reached its destination? And what is its entire movement history? The technology can be used for various use cases across a multitude of industries.

TRLLN is a standalone technology company that helps businesses keep track of large, fast-moving asset networks. Unlike traditional tracking models that rely on gates, scanners, or fixed hardware, TRLLN enables faster deployment and lower operational complexity.

Technological innovations

The technology behind TRLLN was originally developed at IFCO and has proven itself within one of the largest reusable packaging networks, with over 400 million containers globally. It combines active Bluetooth Low Energy tags with an AI-powered software platform to gain insights into location, movement, and condition, with TRLLN's digital tags travelling with their assets. At its core is the „Intelligent Node“, a Bluetooth Low Energy tag – about the size of a postage stamp – featuring printed electronics and a custom-designed chip. The platform connects these networked tags with cloud software, managed connectivity, and advanced AI analytics.

TRLLN makes track-and-trace functionalities accessible outside the IFCO partner network, enabling companies to monitor their inventory across larger markets and supply chains. Particularly in the cold chain, the solution enables effective temperature monitoring. Furthermore, the new platform supports digital product passport applications, which are gaining importance in many industries.

„As a company in fresh food packaging logistics, we have realised that the digital transparency we developed for our network is relevant across industries. Every organisation managing millions of movable assets faces the same challenges. With TRLLN, we are making a solution available that allows companies to address this problem cost-effectively and on a previously unreached scale.“

Mike Pooley, CEO of IFCO

Dr. Sebastian Grams, CEO of TRLLN and Chief Digital Officer at IFCO, explains that the solution is designed to close gaps in traceability, particularly during inter-site transport. The intelligence is integrated directly into the object, allowing for immediate readiness and quick implementation. At the same time, it provides companies with data to reduce losses, improve the utilisation of their inventory, and manage complex supply chains more effectively.

Source: IFCO

IFCO is launching a new Tracking-as-a-Service solution with TRLLN, enabling transparency in global supply chains.
