The jointly developed applications are intended to do without fossil plastics and, according to the companies, dissolve in water without leaving behind any microplastic residues.

The two companies presented market-ready packaging samples based on PureNil 0, a functionalised, bio-based paper from SmartSolve. The material is intended to enable flexible packaging that quickly dissolves in water after use. According to the companies, this process leaves no microplastic residues. The solutions are designed as an alternative to conventional single-use packaging for brands in the beauty, cosmetics, and personal care sectors.

Cooperation for circular packaging

The collaboration combines Lactips' polymer technology with SmartSolve's application development. Lactips develops and produces polymers that are entirely bio-based, water-soluble, and biodegradable in all environments, according to its own statements. SmartSolve contributes its technology for water-soluble paper materials. Together, both companies aim to develop new solutions for circular packaging.

Bertrand Dupeyroux, VP Sales & Marketing at Lactips, said: „Water-soluble materials that leave no microplastic residue have the potential to fundamentally transform single-use packaging, particularly in the beauty and cosmetics industry.
