In cooperation with the environmental protection organisation WWF, the retailer is testing a reusable concept for fresh food at service counters. They received inspiration for this from other Edeka stores where similar fresh food box concepts already exist.<\/p>\n<p>Customers can get a free breakfast at the B\u00fcsumer <strong>Edeka<\/strong>-market can now order their sausage or cheese together with a <strong>Reusable can<\/strong> and pay for both at the till. On their next visit, they can bring the can back with them and put it in a collection box. The collected cans are cleaned in the store and are then available again in perfect condition at the counters - customers can then reuse them free of charge.<\/p>\n<h2>Survey: there is a need for reusable cans<\/h2>\n<p>The demand for such an offer is there. The market and opinion research institute <strong>Ipsos<\/strong> only published the results of a representative survey in mid-August. <strong>Online survey<\/strong>, according to which 55 per cent of respondents <strong>Reusable box solution for service counters<\/strong> would use it. (Illustration: Ipsos)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>At 31 per cent, the most common reasons given by respondents for rejecting the idea were that they didn't feel like carrying the boxes back and forth for every purchase or that they thought it was unhygienic, as stated by 29 per cent. The same number of respondents said that grocery shopping was usually not planned. 24 per cent found the process too cumbersome and 23 per cent generally doubted its usefulness.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Edeka is trialling the use of reusable cans at service counters in cooperation with the WWF.
