The company has now delivered 50,000 containers to Deutsche Post DHL. This is a new order record from Germany for the Logistics + Industry division of Wanzl Metallwaren GmbH, Leipheim.

Every year, the postal and logistics service provider Deutsche Post DHL transports around 19 billion letters and more than one billion parcels and packages across Germany. There is a lot of movement involved every day to ensure that correspondence and goods deliveries reach their recipients on time. „Our parcel business has grown significantly in recent years,“ reports Dr Simon Deymann, Vice President Parcel Hub Operations, Deutsche Post DHL. One reason for this rapid growth is the booming e-commerce market. Professional express services and customised logistics solutions are also contributing to the strong parcel growth.

In use in 34 DHL parcel centres

The parcels and packages are handled in 34 DHL parcel centres throughout Germany. Roll containers from Wanzl have been in use here since 2013 in a licence replica from Deutsche Post DHL. They have proven their functionality at customers, Post-Partner branches and DHL branches. The successful test phase was followed by further orders and the 50,000th roll container was delivered in 2017. The decisive factors were quality, high production capacity, short lead and production times as well as adherence to delivery dates and deadlines.

Mobile pedestals in use: they can be folded and pushed into each other to save space.

Up to five containers can be transported by hand and towed Couplable. „A special mechanism converts the heavy-duty special swivel castors into fixed castors for the track-keeping train,“ explains Markus Spengler, Head of the Wanzl Logistics + Industry division.
