To this end, they have now officially founded a joint company and announced details of the co-operation.<\/p>\n<p>By the end of May, the new \"<strong>Koenig &amp; Bauer Durst GmbH<\/strong>\" based in W\u00fcrzburg will commence operations. Prior to this, the competition authorities still have to approve the cooperation between Durst and Koenig &amp; Bauer. The establishment of the equal joint venture was officially sealed on 10 April 2019. Services and the ink business as well as the development of the \"<strong>VariJET 106<\/strong>\" are part of the joint venture's portfolio.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Christoph Gamper<\/strong>, CEO of the Durst Group, describes the objectives of the cooperation as follows: \"We want to work efficiently and decisively towards a common goal - to tap into the huge potential in the packaging industry with digital production lines.\" <strong>Claus Bolza-Sch\u00fcnemann<\/strong>CEO of Koenig &amp; Bauer AG, agrees with his colleague: \"I am convinced that the joint venture will benefit from the spirit of both companies and that something very special is being created here.\"<\/p>\n<h2>Two traditional companies join forces<\/h2>\n<p>Two heavyweights are merging parts of their business activities. Koenig &amp; Bauer is one of the <strong>Annual turnover of 1.2 billion euros<\/strong> with 5,700 employees, is one of the largest printing press manufacturers. The company proudly boasts over 200 years of history. For the <strong>Packaging printing<\/strong> the company describes itself as a market and technology leader.<\/p>\n<p>Durst, in turn, has evolved from the company founded more than 80 years ago. <strong>Durst Phototechnik AG<\/strong> has developed into one of the world's leading manufacturers of pioneering digital printing and production technologies.
