The company's customers operate in the food service and consumer packaging sectors for frozen foods, fresh produce or confectionery and for non-food items such as detergents, hygiene products, electronics or luxury items.<\/p>\n<p>Walki is continuously developing new, innovative barriers for coating packaging paper and board qualities. In doing so, the company is gradually replacing conventional petroleum-based barriers with <strong>sustainable alternatives<\/strong>, as for example with <strong>Walki-Wood<\/strong> with a tall oil-based barrier or with the industrially compostable <strong>Walki-Bio<\/strong> with PLA coating.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201e80 per cent of our products are already made from renewable or recycled raw materials,\u201c explains <strong>Leif Frilund<\/strong>, President and CEO at Walki. \u201eFor some applications, such as the frozen food sector, the proportion is already as high as 95 per cent. Our goal is to offer all products that are renewable, recyclable or compostable by 2030.\u201c<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Walki has launched a sustainability platform called <strong>\u201eZero waste future\u201c<\/strong> was established. The company wants to use it to develop specific packaging solutions for its customers' products and minimise waste in a holistic manner - both for food and packaging waste.
