The company has therefore developed new, innovative packaging for self-service meat. The packaging for self-service minced meat uses 70 per cent less plastic and has been available in over 30 shops in southern Germany since the beginning of October.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201eWe are proud that we have been the first food retailer to offer this sustainable, plastic-reduced packaging for minced meat since the beginning of October,\u201c says <strong>Robert Pudelko<\/strong>, Head of CSR Purchasing Germany. \u201eNeither quality, content nor price have changed. Only the packaging has been optimised. This gives our customers the opportunity to join us in making a contribution to environmental protection and helping to close the recycling loop.\u201c<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>About the packaging<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Instead of a plastic bowl<\/strong> In future, minced meat will be <strong>Cardboard box<\/strong> which is only used with a <strong>thin plastic film<\/strong> is lined. Through the <strong>Separating cardboard and film<\/strong> the individual recyclable materials in the packaging can be recycled separately. The company is particularly focussing on its own brands. \u201eKaufland recycles old material in order to obtain new material,\u201c explains <strong>Pudelko<\/strong>. \u201eWe use the recycled PET granulate to produce packaging material for our own-brand products. For example, the bevola herbal bath bottle is made from 100 per cent recycled material.\u201c The packaging for K-Classic sunflower oil and K-Bio iced tea is also made from recycled material. <strong>recycled plastic<\/strong> manufactured.
