{"id":29431,"date":"2019-12-11T16:30:59","date_gmt":"2019-12-11T15:30:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/packaging-journal.de\/?p=29431"},"modified":"2019-12-11T15:07:21","modified_gmt":"2019-12-11T14:07:21","slug":"eurosac-study","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/packaging-journal.de\/en\/eurosac-studie\/","title":{"rendered":"Eurosac: Paper sacks just as durable as plastic sacks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A recent study commissioned by the European Paper Sack Research Group has shown that paper sacks for cement offer equivalent protection to polyethylene FFS sacks over an 18-month storage period under identical conditions.<\/p>\n<p>The study was conducted by the Norwegian <strong>Research organisation SINTEF<\/strong> on behalf of the <strong>European Paper Sack Research Group (ESG)<\/strong> a co-operation between <strong>CEPI Eurokraft and Eurosac<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201eCement hardens on contact with water. The bags were <strong>stacked on a wooden pallet<\/strong> and with <strong>covered with a plastic stretch bonnet<\/strong> - a typical warehouse situation.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201eAlthough the average storage period for bagged cement in Europe is estimated to be a maximum of two to three months, we wanted to investigate how the bags perform over a longer storage period of up to 18 months as part of our study,\u201c explains <strong>Catherine Kerninon<\/strong>. \u201eFor this reason, one bag of each type was removed from the warehouse after three periods of different lengths.\u201c<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The results show a <b>High storage stability of both bag types<\/b>Whether total weight, degree of hydration, mortar strength, initial flow behaviour or 28-day compressive strength - the <strong>Quality and product features<\/strong> of the cement samples periodically taken from both types of bags fully met the requirements of the cement industry.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The study proves it: Paper sacks offer good storage stability and are characterised by their <strong>High environmental compatibility<\/strong> off: Your CO<sub>2<\/sub>-The carbon footprint is 2.5 times smaller than that of plastic bags.
