{"id":30677,"date":"2020-02-05T17:30:40","date_gmt":"2020-02-05T16:30:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/packaging-journal.de\/?p=30677"},"modified":"2020-02-05T15:46:33","modified_gmt":"2020-02-05T14:46:33","slug":"unilever-recycling-seal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/packaging-journal.de\/en\/unilever-recyclingsiegel\/","title":{"rendered":"Recycling seal for ice cream packaging"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Unilever's Cremissimo ice cream packaging has now been awarded the \u201eMade for Recycling\u201c seal of approval by Interseroh.<\/p>\n<p>The ice cream packaging consists of <strong>Made from 100 per cent polyolefins<\/strong> and are <strong>without recycling-unfriendly barriers<\/strong> which are usually used to protect the product from external influences. However, even without the use of these barriers, they guarantee the <strong>Product protection<\/strong> and can be reused for storing other foods.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201eIn addition to reducing new plastic in the production of packaging, our primary goal is to increase its recyclability and - where possible - to work with monomaterials,\u201c says <strong>Susanne Lutkat<\/strong>, Category Business Team Leader Dessert &amp; Tea, Unilever.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>How important this <strong>Recycling of reusable materials<\/strong> The importance of climate protection is demonstrated by the study <strong>\u201eResources saved by recycling\u201c<\/strong> <strong>of the Fraunhofer Institute for Prudence<\/strong>. The <strong>Alba Group<\/strong>, to which Interseroh also belongs, has thus achieved a significant increase in sales in 2018 alone. <strong>Recycling of 5.6 million tonnes of recyclable materials<\/strong> 4.4 million tonnes of climate-damaging greenhouse gases were saved. In the first stage, it is determined whether the consumer is able to easily <strong>Assign the correct recording system<\/strong> can. The second stage then examines how the <strong>Packaging during sorting<\/strong> behaviour. Can the currently available sorting technologies sort the packaging into the correct material fraction - or do certain materials prevent a clear categorisation? In the third stage, we analyse whether the packaging <strong>Suitable for material recycling<\/strong> or whether, for example, labels, closures or barriers make recycling more difficult.<\/p>\n<p>The more points the packaging <strong>on a scale from 0 to 20<\/strong> the easier and better it can be recycled. In addition, the \u201eMade for Recycling\u201c service meets the requirements of the <strong>Minimum standards for assessing the recyclability of packaging<\/strong> of the Central Agency Packaging Register Foundation (ZSVR).
