{"id":31788,"date":"2020-03-09T09:27:39","date_gmt":"2020-03-09T08:27:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/packaging-journal.de\/?p=31788"},"modified":"2020-03-09T09:27:39","modified_gmt":"2020-03-09T08:27:39","slug":"neste-and-mirova-invest-in-recycling-technologies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/packaging-journal.de\/en\/neste-und-mirova-investieren-recycling-technologies\/","title":{"rendered":"Neste and Mirova invest in Recycling Technologies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\">Neste, an expert in drop-in solutions for renewable chemicals, and Mirova, an impact investor in natural capital and a subsidiary of Natixis Investment Managers, are jointly investing millions to accelerate the development of chemical recycling processes to support the transition to a circular economy for plastics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\">According to current information, the two companies are investing ten million euros in the<strong> Recycling Technologies<\/strong> Ltd (\u201eRecycling Technologies\u201c), a specialist in plastics recycling technology. This investment, consisting of five million euros from Neste and five million euros from Mirova via the \u201aAlthelia Sustainable Ocean Fund\u2018, provides the necessary capital for the construction of the <strong>first commercial RT7000 system<\/strong> from Recycling Technologies in Scotland. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Accelerate chemical recycling processes<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\">The scalable, patented RT7000 technology converts mixed plastic waste into waxes and petrochemical raw materials with the brand name <strong>Plaxx<\/strong> which are then used for the production of new plastics. This will bring Neste's know-how and extensive expertise in handling low-grade waste and residues to the collaboration with the aim of accelerating the use of chemical recycling processes in Europe. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\">The investment follows Neste's recent announcement that from 2030 it will be investing <strong>over one million tonnes of plastic waste<\/strong> to be reused as a raw material for chemicals and new plastics.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\">\u201eEvery year, more than eight million tonnes of plastic end up in our oceans.
