Packaging plays the role of the \u201ehidden champion\u201c: nothing works without it and its protective function. But it must be able to do more in future.<\/p>\n<p>It is not an option for a shipper to leave out the packaging. A product that arrives damaged at the customer would not be good for the image. Returns and reshipment also mean an additional burden on the environment and the wallet. So there needs to be a <strong>Minimum level of packaging<\/strong>. And that's exactly what it's all about: a (minimum) measure <strong>\u201eConscious and sustainable packaging!\u201c<\/strong> say the packaging professionals.<\/p>\n<h2>No business without sustainability<\/h2>\n<p>The packaging has <strong>Mainly 5 tasks<\/strong>The most important aspects are product protection, appealing product presentation, branding, the unpacking experience and the communication function. According to a survey by the auditing and consulting firm PwC <strong>sustainable packaging is important to 85 per cent of consumers<\/strong>. And more than half (52 per cent) are already specifically looking for products with environmentally friendly packaging.<\/p>\n<p>This sends out a groundbreaking signal: in the future, the company will <strong>Environmentally friendly packaging<\/strong> are in demand. The advice is based on<strong> 5 Principles<\/strong>Reduce, reuse, replace, regrow, recycle. The aim is to, <strong>Only as much packaging as necessary<\/strong> The use of environmentally friendly materials and maximum utilisation, whether as a brand ambassador or with additional functions for return shipping.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201eIt is also important to focus on the <strong>Circular economy<\/strong>. What good are recyclable products if nobody recycles them in the end? Sustainable raw materials and easily recyclable materials play a major role in packaging,\u201c says <strong>Harald Sch\u00f6nfeld<\/strong>, General Director Raja Germany.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Raja is working closely with suppliers to expand its range of environmentally friendly products and is focussing in particular on a sustainable, European purchasing policy in order to <strong>Minimise transport routes<\/strong>.
