We show you the winners of the <span lang=\"DE\">European Carton Excellence Awards<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Carton of the year: Roku Gin<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-38696\" src=\"https:\/\/packaging-journal.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Roku-Gin-cartonboard-awards-2020.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"670\" height=\"502\" srcset=\"https:\/\/packaging-journal.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Roku-Gin-cartonboard-awards-2020.jpg 670w, https:\/\/packaging-journal.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Roku-Gin-cartonboard-awards-2020-600x450.jpg 600w, https:\/\/packaging-journal.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Roku-Gin-cartonboard-awards-2020-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 670px) 100vw, 670px\" \/>The Roku Gin packaging was designed by <strong>Van Genechten Packaging<\/strong> made of cardboard from <a href=\"https:\/\/packaging-journal.de\/tag\/stora-enso\/\"><em>Stora Enso<\/em><\/a> and won the Carton of the Year award for its aesthetic design with great printing, the quality of the finish and the way it successfully communicates the product's backstory. The six corners of the gift box symbolise the six Japanese plant extracts used to make Roku - a term meaning \u201esix\u201c in Japanese - while the embossing and floral print express traditional Japanese courtesy. The packaging guarantees both excellent visibility and protection for the product, while at the same time informing the consumer and enticing them to buy.<\/p>\n<h2>Innovation of the year: Re-Fruiter Tray<\/h2>\n<p><span lang=\"DE\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-38692\" src=\"https:\/\/packaging-journal.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/foto-Innovatie-Award-Re-Fruiter-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"310\" height=\"303\" srcset=\"https:\/\/packaging-journal.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/foto-Innovatie-Award-Re-Fruiter-1.png 310w, https:\/\/packaging-journal.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/foto-Innovatie-Award-Re-Fruiter-1-300x293.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 310px) 100vw, 310px\" \/>The \u201eInnovation\u201c award <\/span><span lang=\"DE\">went to <i>Snel BVs <\/i>Re-Fruiter Tray<i> <\/i>made of cardboard from <i>Smurfit Kappa Hoya paper and board<\/i>. This clever packaging consists of a grid-like tray that has a die-cut profile with a pattern of angled elements that are joined together to form a flexible surface. The cardboard lid uses <i>Stora Ensos<\/i> new carton manufacturing technology, is perfect for hot and cold drinks and ensures safe drinking. This clear packaging consists of a base and a lid made of cellulose and uses a minimum amount of material, but still has a very high-quality appearance. It offers a sustainable alternative to conventional plastic egg packaging as it is made from recycled fibres and is both recyclable and biodegradable.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>General packaging - virgin fibre<\/h2>\n<p><i><span lang=\"DE\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-38698\" src=\"https:\/\/packaging-journal.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/isana-cosmetics-procarton.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"449\" srcset=\"https:\/\/packaging-journal.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/isana-cosmetics-procarton.jpg 600w, https:\/\/packaging-journal.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/isana-cosmetics-procarton-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>Nobleman <\/span><\/i><span lang=\"DE\">and<i> Stora Ensos<\/i> ISANA Cosmetics won the \u201eGeneral Packaging - Fresh Fibre\u201c category for its textured design and sophisticated finish. This is a sustainable cardboard packaging for multipack cans designed to replace traditional plastic rings, which are harmful to nature.
