To record the master data of a product, the data record was expanded to include information on post-consumer recyclate (PCR) in the packaging. Previously, manufacturers and suppliers throughout Germany were able to enter this information via the MARKANT database.

The expert group that is further developing and facilitating master data management can now announce another milestone. The specification of data for PCR is
is now part of the German target market profile maintained by GS1 Germany for GDSN - Global Data Synchronisation Network.

This means that a standardised, automatically processable data basis for the proportion of recycled material in packaging has now been created both nationally and internationally, which can also be used for extended shelf labelling. This represents an enormous development, especially for internationally active producers. Companies that are not involved in the forum can also determine the PCR content of a product's packaging via GDSN
to enter.

Source: Coca Cola Germany

It is an agile alliance that aims to promote the circular economy.
