A Salzburg dairy is now dispensing with this and offering customers dishwasher-safe, reusable lids.<\/p>\n<p>Until now, all 500 g containers of yoghurt, custard and sour cream had disposable plastic lids. However, although they fulfil their purpose perfectly, these lids alone produce <strong>Several tonnes of plastic waste per year<\/strong>. SalzburgMilch therefore launched a promotional campaign: instead of the disposable plastic lids, each 500 g container was fitted with a dishwasher-safe and environmentally friendly, reusable plastic lid.<\/p>\n<p>They were developed by <a href=\"https:\/\/packaging-journal.de\/tag\/greiner-packaging\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Greiner Packaging<\/a>. The company specialises in resealable packaging solutions that extend the shelf life of food. The requirements: The lid should <strong>Close securely and tightly<\/strong>, so that the contents of the cup stay fresh. This combination makes them dishwasher-safe - and if they do have to be thrown away at some point, <strong>they are fully recyclable<\/strong>. Overall, less plastic is used and the lid stays in circulation for longer.\u201c <strong>Thomas Knoll,<\/strong> Key Account Manager at Greiner Packaging<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The IML labels were supplied by Belgian label printer Verstraete IML. \u201eProducing the perfect label was no easy task,\u201c says Peter Mertens, Regional Sales Manager for Central and Eastern Europe at Verstraete IML.  \u201eGreiner Packaging had asked us, <strong>IML labels for white and completely transparent dishwasher-safe plastic lids <\/strong>design. From a technological point of view, this was a very ambitious goal.
