Now Cereal Partners Deutschland (CPD), a joint venture between Nestl\u00e9 and General Mills, is introducing the nutritional labelling on all cereal bars.<\/p>\n<p>From March, the <a href=\"https:\/\/packaging-journal.de\/tag\/nestle\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-schema-attribute=\"\">Nestl\u00e9<\/a> Nesquik bars with a Nutri-Score <em>C<\/em> will be available in stores. Until the <strong>End of the year 2021<\/strong> all breakfast products will be converted to the new nutritional labelling.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201eWith voluntary labelling, we want to help consumers choose the better alternative within a product category in terms of nutritional values. We have been working on reducing the sugar and salt content in our products since 2013. We have now managed to achieve a \u201eC\u201c rating for our cereal bars.\u201c <strong>Nicolas Wahli<\/strong>, Managing Director of Cereal Partners in Germany<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>Over 100 companies already registered<\/h2>\n<p>Since the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture introduced the Nutri-Score in November 2020, the Nutri-Score in Germany has <strong>already 116 German companies with 236 brands<\/strong> registered for the use of this nutritional label. These include manufacturers and retailers of all sizes and from all sectors. We have delivered. I expect companies to comprehensively label their product range. That is also what consumers expect.\u201c <strong>Julia Kl\u00f6ckner<\/strong>, Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>European basic agreement on nutrition labelling adopted<\/h2>\n<p>In order to<strong> Europe-wide use of extended nutrition labelling<\/strong> In order to simplify the Nutri-Score process, the European countries involved or interested in the Nutri-Score have also concluded an agreement in principle.<\/p>\n<p>They have thus agreed on joint coordination. The aim is to facilitate the introduction of nutrition labelling for Member States and companies.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to a steering committee, the collaboration also includes a <strong>Joint scientific committee<\/strong>, which scientifically evaluates possible further developments of the Nutri-Score algorithm. Germany will be represented here in future by an expert from the Max Rubner Institute (MRI).<\/p>\n<p>Julia Kl\u00f6ckner: \u201eOur agreement is an important step <strong>towards more clarity on packaging<\/strong> and strengthens healthy eating across national borders. It is good and right that independent scientists are consulting internationally on possible adjustments to the algorithm.
