{"id":43968,"date":"2021-04-16T18:21:13","date_gmt":"2021-04-16T16:21:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/packaging-journal.de\/?p=43968"},"modified":"2021-04-16T18:22:26","modified_gmt":"2021-04-16T16:22:26","slug":"manufacturers-take-legal-action-against-mandatory-labelling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/packaging-journal.de\/en\/hersteller-klagen-gegen-kennzeichnungspflicht\/","title":{"rendered":"Manufacturers take legal action against mandatory labelling of drinks cups"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Together with six other European manufacturers of plastic packaging, packaging manufacturer Paccor has filed a lawsuit against the planned labelling regulations for drinks cups.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201eaction for annulment\u201c brought by European manufacturers, which include <strong>Paccor (Germany) Flo (Italy), Dopla Pap (Czech Republic), Ilip (Italy), Aristea (Italy), Dart (United Kingdom) and Intrapl\u00e1s (Portugal)<\/strong> is directed against the European Union's Single-Use Plastics Directive (SUPD). According to this directive, single-use plastic beverage cups and paper cups coated with plastic must be labelled with a new pictogram from 3 July, indicating that the cup contains plastic or is made of plastic.<\/p>\n<p>The seven companies doubt that the new <a href=\"https:\/\/packaging-journal.de\/ik-kritisiert-kennzeichnungsregeln\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-schema-attribute=\"\">Labelling Directive<\/a> littering is reduced and the circular economy is promoted. Beverage cups would be <strong>only 35th on the list<\/strong> of the most common items found on beaches. Beverage cups and their packaging in the EU are therefore <strong>already placed on the market with known symbols and labelling<\/strong>, to enable their proper disposal, sorting and recycling.<\/p>\n<p>The aim of the action is to establish the unlawfulness of the labelling requirements for beverage cups laid down in Regulation 2020\/2151 and to declare them null and void.
