The company is thus taking a further step towards making all packaging worldwide recyclable, reusable or compostable by 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The mono-material cap was developed after eight years of research and development involving \u201emore than 185,000 man-hours and an investment of $1.2 million\u201c to find a suitable replacement cap for the ketchup bottles, of which <strong>One billion units worldwide in 2020<\/strong> were sold.<\/p>\n<p>According to its own information, Heinz has<strong> a total of 45 different designs,<\/strong> which were printed in-house using a 3D printer. The mono-material closure will be<strong> from 2022 worldwide<\/strong> introduced, starting in Europe.<\/p>\n<p>Until now, sauce bottles were fitted with a flexible valve that dispensed the ideal amount of ketchup per squeeze, but was difficult to recycle. The new closure now dispenses the same amount of tomato ketchup, but is made from a recyclable mono-material.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201eWe are delighted to be the first in the market to announce these innovative new closures. It means that our customers can now recycle every part of their Heinz Squeeze bottle in their household waste.
